In the context of the corporate strategy CHALLENGE 2020, E/D/E has once more given itself a vision and clear aims until the year 2020.
The strategy program, which comprises numerous core projects and considerable amounts of new invest, continues seamlessly where CHALLENGE 2012 ended.
Until 2020, a general trading volume of 10 billion Euros is planned, almost doubling the current annual turnover. In Germany, planned annual trading volume will then peak at 7.8 billion Euros, in Europe at 2,2 billion Euros.
Again, E/D/E measures itself up against ambitious goals. But realization of CHALLENGE 2020 will pay off: It will strengthen the competitiveness of E/D/E members and increase market shares for E/D/E in Germany and Europe by enacting new projects and numerous activities.

eDC stands for electronic Data-Center.
In the future, it will bring the B2B sector exactly what it urgently needs: ideal product data for sales. In addition to the traditional catalogues, end consumers, such as customers in the industry, craftsmen, municipal authorities, planners and architects, expect product advice and useful information from distributors, and that means much more product data from the manufacturers – preferably all of it. And consumers want
access to this information at all times, everywhere, and across all distribution channels.
But complete manufacturer data, in a uniform quality, structure and standard, is not yet available to distribution across the manifold distribution channels.
The eDC will therefore provide distribution with central access to complete manufacturer product data in a new comprehensive classification standard for all manufacturers, prepared to the highest quality by product experts. E/D/E installs an additional online distribution-channel for specialized wholesalers. Its name: Toolineo. It blends seamlessly into the existing distribution-channels. Toolineo is a central market place for any kind of online-trade between E/D/E members and their customers. Toolineo pursues the perfect interlocking of online-business with the strengths of regional specialized dealers and wholesalers. Thus E/D/E members can differentiate themselves from "online-only" competitors, expand their range, acquire new customer target-groups and enhance their ability to compete decisively. E/D/E transposes the existing rolemodel to its new online sales-channel. The end-customer business remains exclusively with the E/D/E specialized dealers, who also retain their directive regarding sortiments and pricing.
In order to access new target-groups and to secure turnover, it is necessary for mid-sized businesses in industrial wholesale distribution, to present themselves to online-customers in a centralized online-market place. With Toolineo, E/D/E enables its B2B-members (and thus contract-suppliers) to do this via this sales channel - in addition to catalogues, traditional field sales-force, stationary business and decentralized webshops.
