An image of the whole sector

The building economy and thus all from the building activity directly influenced areas of activity also showed in the year 2001 a substantial decline in Germany. E/D/E represents through its activities a large number of branches related to the building industry. With 2.62 billion Euro of turnover the result therefore was 4.3 % down from the preceeding year.

In the steel and fastening products, which had an increase of 15 % in the year 2000, was not able to hold that result.The members united in the Union Stahl Handel achieved a turnover of 274,3 Million Euro via E/D/E, which is 2 % less than in the year before. The division Tools, machines, companies interiors suffered from a drop of 3,9 % to now 763,8 Million Euro , while the division of fittings, personal protection and technical trade slumped by 4.3 % to now 948,2 million euro. A drop of 8,5 % was the result in the Wupper-Ring circle, our activities around sanitary and heating.

However, there are also positive developments not to be forgotten: The ware-house business with products from the field of companie´s interiors, and Format tooling-machines show a plus of 15.4 % and 2 %. Also the product groups personal protection and technical trade, mainly focusing on the industrial customer, showed growth rates of 11.4 % and 6,7 % respectively.
