Cultural commitment

In times of scarce public funds, culture is an endangered commodity. As part of its opportunities, the E/D/E is happy to contribute to maintaining and supporting the cultural offerings of the region which are worthy of preservation.

The Von der Heydt-Museum in Wuppertal’s city centre is a cultural highlight of the region and far beyond. Under the management of Dr. Gerhard Finckh, countless collections of national ranking have been realised over the past years. The E/D/E had the honour of supporting the internationally acclaimed exhibitions of the artists Monet and Bonnard. The Monet exhibition not only surpassed all expectations with almost 300,000 visitors; it also broke all records and became the most successful special exhibition in Wuppertal. The Bonnard exhibition was not inferior to the success.

In addition, the “Das deutungsreiche Spiel” exhibition, an ambitious project that portrays the influence of historic symbolism on contemporary painting, was supported by the E/D/E.

Among others, the company supports the theatre in Cronenberg TIC. Like many other cultural facilities, the TIC Theatre is suffering from the decline of financial funding. In this respect, the E/D/E helps by reliably providing regular donations. The facility was founded more than 20 years ago by a group of people who were enthusiastic about plays and has taken its place in Wuppertal’s cultural landscape with much commitment.
