Wuppertal – E/D/E aligns its processes to avoid and reduce the use of resources and to bring materials and products back into the cycle. These efforts are aimed at minimizing the ecological footprint and integrating sustainable practices into daily operations. In line with this aim, various projects have been implemented at our own site in recent years: For example, the introduction of a packaging machine to reduce the number of cardboard boxes per shipment, the optimization of waste management and recycling processes as well as the switch from plastic filling material to paper and various digitalization measures. “As a family business, we want our sustainable actions to have an impact that makes a difference. That’s why we take on responsibility and are actively committed to protecting our environment and its resources,” says Dr. Andreas Trautwein, Chairman of E/D/E Management Board.
Commitment to the region: participation in the Wupper clean-up
In line with the “avoid, reduce, reuse” approach, E/D/E employees took part in this year’s Wupper clean-up and actively contributed to regional environmental protection. The Wupperputz is a local, annual clean-up campaign in which around 3,300 people cleared 14 tons of garbage from the banks of the Wupper in 2025. Equipped with high-visibility vests, gloves and food, the E/D/E colleagues collected numerous bags of garbage. “I am delighted that we were able to make a positive contribution to environmental protection in our region together as a team of employees,” says Daniela Kramer about taking part in the Wupper clean-up. “The campaign not only fits in with E/D/E’s ecological approach, but also strengthens the sense of community.”
Support for the environmental organization everwave
In conjunction with its successful participation in the Wupperputz clean-up campaign, E/D/E has expanded its commitment to environmental protection. For the amount of waste collected there, E/D/E has acquired so-called plastic credits from the environmental organization everwave, whereby one kilogram of waste per plastic credit is collected from international rivers using special waste collection boats. “We are aware of the global impact of waste. According to the Federal Environment Agency, over 10 million tons of waste end up in the oceans every year,” says Jennifer Träptau, Sustainability Officer at E/D/E Group. “For this reason, we decided to make a further contribution to environmental protection through everwave and are all the more pleased that we were able to acquire a total of 1,250 Plastic Credits thanks to the active commitment of our employees.” The combination of regional focus and international responsibility underlines the company’s holistic understanding of sustainability.
