E/D/E’s eFabrik in Wuppertal demonstrates what the optimum supply of MRO and C parts can look like. The exhibition contains various systems designed to make intralogistics processes in industrial, commercial and trade businesses more efficient.
The eFabrik is the first port of call for E/D/E members and their customers when it comes to testing the smart vending machines for themselves. As the latest and best solutions should always be available to them, the team from specialist area Supply Networks/Industrieservice recently updated the exhibition. While the familiar systems have been replaced by more modern successors, innovative solutions from new suppliers have also been integrated. “Our aim is to provide members with the broadest possible portfolio that covers all their requirements,” explains Christian Wiese, responsible for supplier management at specialist area. The team has also adapted the virtual tour as part of this process. However, the link where interested parties can access the 360-degree experience remains the same.
The special wow factor has recently been provided by a robot that independently guides visitors through the exhibition, provides explanations of the individual products and can play videos. The mobile machine is equipped with a large screen and a touchpad. But it is not just there to help visitors find their way around. It is also designed to stimulate their imagination and show them where the journey could take them in the near future: Analogous to vending machines, robots could also ensure more efficient processes in all kinds of businesses, for example by delivering employees’ utensils directly to their workstations. This would mean that the time and distance-saving goods-to-man principle would once again replace the classic man-to-goods model. “We are currently in the process of collecting requirements in order to sound out what a humanoid assistant should ideally look like. Of course, we are also taking feedback from visitors to the eFabrik into account,” says Christian Wiese.
