E/D/E Management well prepared for future tasks

Jochen Hiemeyer is as of June 1st part of the E/D/E executive board. Top-level management of the association is now complete again, after Dr. Ferdinand von Alvensleben already joined the board in October 2013.

Wuppertal –
Hiemeyer, aged 53, is responsible for the business divisions of marketing, eBusiness, sales systems and UNION STAHL-HANDEL as well as strategic focal activities. "We are looking forward to a successful cooperation with Jochen Hiemeyer, who brings manyfold experiences and profound expert-knowledge in the relevant areas to our board, and who will work in important strategic fields for E/D/E“, explains Dr. Andreas Trautwein, chairperson of the E/D/E executive board.

In October of the past year, Dr. Ferdinand von Alvensleben had taken up work within the E/D/E executive board. He is responsible for the business divisions of personell, logistics and organisation/IT. Dr. Christoph Grote, responsible for the areas of wares and sales as well as expansion, is part of the executive board since 2010. "In this constellation, we are well prepared for mastering the challenges which lie ahead within the context of our ambitious future strategy. The same, by the way, is true for all other specialists and executives in E/D/E“, says Dr. Trautwein.

Jochen Hiemeyer worked for renowned consulting firms during the past 20 years. The academically qualified industrial engineer has acquired a very good reputation as an expert for trade matters with a focus on marketing and sales. He has profound experience in wholesale- and retail-matters. His last position was one as partner in a leading international consulting company, where he dealt foremost with strategic projects, sales systems and IT-implementations.

In E/D/E, Jochen Hiemeyer takes care of the mentioned business divisions as well as of the retail-systems center EURO-DIY, the WUPPER AKADEMIE (which is the new concept for the industry's continual training) and the areas of E-Business and E-Commerce, which also comprise important future projects such as centralized data management (electronic Data-Center/eDC) and electronic data exchange as well as efficient connecting via shop systems.

Jochen Hiemeyer will also control the construction of a vertical online-market place for industrial wholesale distribution (ePVH). ePVH will intelligently reconciliate the possibilities of High-End-E-Commerce and regional USPs of highly specialized traders. B2B will thereby effectively be able to complement the existing sales channels such as catalogues, a field working sales force, stationary sales measures and Multishop with an online-channel. B2B-traders in E/D/E thus participate in the increasing demand for online-solutions and benefit from a greater range.

With CHALLENGE 2020, the Wuppertal-based association has set itself an ambitious strategic programme, aiming for a total turnover of 10 billion Euros in 2020, together with its members and contract-suppliers. As of the end of 2013, E/D/E realized an annual turnover of 5.2 billion Euros with its 895 employees.
